Event Details

Fascination of Plants Day is a global initiative aimed at celebrating the beauty and significance of plant life.

With an estimated 250,000 species, plants are one of the most important elements of our planet. Agriculture, forestry, paper, pharmaceuticals – the list of things plants provide us with is as long as the elephant creeper which, at 1.5km, is the longest plant vine in the world.

Fascination of Plants Day on Saturday, 18 May is your chance to celebrate plants properly. Lancaster University botanists are hosting a stall in Lancaster Market where you can join in this celebration of our photosynthetic friends. Whether it is colouring unique ‘space’ plants for younger visitors, discovering the local gardens and forests of Lancaster, or taking our quiz to uncover what type of plant you are most like, there will be plenty of fun activities to join in with.
