Lancaster University has been experiencing severe disruption after Storm Desmond caused widespread flooding and power cuts in the Lancaster area last weekend.

As of Wednesday December 9, the University remains closed due to intermittent power supply, although postgraduate degree ceremonies are continuing. Students have been sent home and all classes and assessment for week ten of term have been cancelled.

Although InfoLab has been shut from 5th December to 9th December, and staff have been asked not to come to work, a small group of SCC staff met at an off-campus location to go over around thirty modules affected by the University closure. Staff have come up with a plan for handling missed teaching and assessment and are currently sanity checking information, with a view to communicating the plan to students later this week.

Some members of staff have seen their homes flooded. Despite this, staff have been keen to get information out to students as soon as possible and will be on hand to answer any queries once the University re-opens.
