If you are a current undergraduate interested in accommodation for 2026/27, you can apply online now. Please read on for the full details.

To apply, simply log in to the accommodation portal and select 2026/27. We have availability for students in all cohorts, and you can apply for campus accommodation in your own college, in undesignated houses on Alexandra Park where mixed college memberships can live together, and at our city accommodation at Chancellor's Wharf.

When to apply

If you apply by Wednesday 31 December 2025 you will benefit from the current 2025/26 prices and be considered in the first batch of allocations. We will let you know early in January if we can offer a room or if you will be placed on a waiting list. There are more rooms available for returning students than in recent years and thus a very high chance of us being able to offer most if not all applicants a place. For most categories of returning student there is no guarantee of accommodation, and where demand exceeds supply by 31 December students entering their final year are prioritised over those going in to second year, but there are almost 2000 places available across campus. Later applications will be handled as and when they are received, by your own college.

We will continue to make offers to later applicants for as long as we have spaces available, though the price will update to the 2026/27 rates from 1 January.

Exceptions

If you are currently studying on a year away from the University (abroad or on a work placement), you are guaranteed a place on campus if you want it, providing you apply by 31 December 2025. Unfortunately later applications will be placed in a queue with all other applicants.

If you feel that you have a disability or special requirement that makes living on campus a necessity you must discuss this with your Accommodation Manager in advance of 31 December. You must proceed to apply in the usual way before this date for consideration, writing in the ‘Additional Notes’ field that you have such a requirement for living on campus.

Note for students planning to study away next year

If you are planning to study overseas in 2026/27 as part of the Study Abroad programme, please don’t apply for campus accommodation now. If you subsequently don’t get the grades you need, we have an arrangement with the International Office that we will find you a room on campus.

If you are planning a work placement, please discuss the situation with your Accommodation Manager before applying. Any contract that you enter in to is legally binding and you would remain liable for the fees even if you weren’t studying here in person.

Friends

If you want to live with friends, you need to nominate a group leader in advance and put their name and student ID number in the required field on the web form. If your friendship group is made up of people from different colleges you can now apply to live together on campus, on or around Alexandra Park in undesignated houses. There will be different types of ensuite accommodation as well as some with shared bathrooms. Individuals wanting to live in a room type not offered by their own college may also apply for this option.

REMEMBER: You all still need to submit an application - including the group leader, noting their own ID number! All of you must pick the same person and include their ID in order for the application to be grouped together.

Chancellors Wharf

The application form allows you to apply for campus accommodation as well as rooms at Chancellors Wharf, the University's only managed halls of residence in the city centre. Chancellor's Wharf has 244 bedrooms with shared WC/shower facilities in three blocks by the Lancaster Canal. The Water Witch pub is just opposite and the infirmary bus stop just a three minute walk away. The flats come in different sizes to suit different groups and many rooms have balconies or canal views. Applications here are handled as they come in, and we’ll confirm your place as soon as possible after we receive your application.

REMEMBER: If you are applying to Chancellor's Wharf as part of a group you all still need to submit an application - including the group leader, noting their own ID number! All of you must pick the same person and include their ID in order for the application to be grouped together, and you should all put Chancellor's Wharf as your first choice.

Studios

If you wish to apply for a studio you can do this via the online application. As only Pendle and Grizedale have studios, successful applicants would be offered studio accommodation on Alexandra Park. Please complete the form highlighting the choice of room you would like if a studio is unavailable so that we can best accommodate you if we cannot offer you a studio.

Family Flats

If you wish to be housed as a couple in a one-bed flat, or with your children, you may be eligible to apply for a family flat. Please be aware that postgraduates are given priority and we are unable to advise undergraduates if they have been successful or not until the summer.

If you wish to be housed as a couple but your priority is to be on campus, then we would advise you to apply for two single rooms and contact the flats team in the summer about the possibility of upgrading if there are family flat vacancies.

Making you an accommodation offer

If you apply for campus accommodation by 31 December we will let you know early in January if your application has been successful or not, by way of a formal offer by email. You will have seven days to accept that offer, at which point it will become legally binding. This means that you are obliged to pay the accommodation fees in full for the duration of the contract even where you choose to arrive later or depart earlier, or study away from the University for all or part of the year.

Applicants for Chancellor's Wharf accommodation will be made offers from later on this term and on a regular basis until all spaces are filled.

Disclaimer

In this eventuality you must discuss the situation with your Accommodation Manager to make arrangements and agree a payment plan. Failure to do this will result in you being issued with a notice to cancel the accommodation agreement.

We are also unable to accommodate students in breach of the student code of discipline or the Terms & Conditions of residence.

If we consider you or others to be at risk of harm as a result of your living here we will carry out a risk assessment to determine your suitability, in accordance with our Terms and Conditions.
