Meet the IBPI Research Team
The Core Research Team
The core team is made up of people from the Spectrum Centre and Lancashire & South Cumbria NHS Foundation Trust.

Professor Steven Jones - Chief Investigator
Hello, I am Steven and I am the lead investigator for the IBPI study. We have been working on ways of supporting parents with bipolar and their children for over a decade and we hope this new intervention is helpful. I have been researching the coproduction of useful interventions for people living with bipolar for many years as well as implementing these innovations into clinical practice so as many people as possible benefit from them. We are pleased to be partnering with the NHS and Bipolar UK for the IBPI study so that if it proves useful we can get it out to other parents as quickly as possible.

Eirian Kerry - Trial Manager
Hi, I’m Eirian, and I work as the Trial Manager for IBPI. It is my role to oversee the trial as a whole and to ensure that our participants are supported throughout their time in the trial. If you have any questions, please do reach out to us as a team on ibpi@lancaster.ac.uk. I look forward to meeting you and welcoming you into the study.

Neil Caton - Service User Researcher
I am the service user researcher on the IBPI trial where I help facilitate the public patient involvement on the project, helping support the advisory panel we have for this trial where we hear from people with lived experience of bipolar and being a parent advice about how to manage the trial. I employed as a service user the Spectrum Centre in part because of my lived experience of mental health difficulties and oversee PPI throughout the centre.

Aliya Zaheen- Research Assistant
Hi, I’m Aliya, and I’m the Research Assistant for the IBPI Study. Part of my role involves recruiting participants, screening for eligibility, and supporting people during the trial. I am excited to be working on this trial with a wonderful team, and hope that the intervention benefits parents with bipolar disorder.

Julia Halstead - Trial Administrator
Hi, I’m Julia and I am based at Lancaster University. It is my role to support the smooth running of the trial, working closely with the rest of the team. I am excited about welcoming participants to IBPI as I think it will be very beneficial for parents experiencing bipolar disorder.

Dr Samantha Russell - Research Associate
Hi, I'm Sam and I'm the Research Associate for the qualitative arm of the IBPI trial. My role includes interviewing parents with bipolar disorder about their experiences of the IBPI intervention. I am delighted to be part of the Spectrum team, working to understand better what might be useful in interventions for parents with bipolar disorder.
