Lancaster hosts British Association for South Asian Studies conference

More than 161 delegates from the UK and from across the subcontinent, Europe, Canada and the US are set to attend the British Association for South Asian Studies (BASAS) annual conference at Lancaster University next week.
Lancaster University’s School of Global Affairs academics Dr Bihani Sarkar, Professor Deborah Sutton and Dr Sally Cawood organised the event, which includes leading researchers from around the world and a keynote address by Maria Misra, Professor of Global History at Oxford University, as well as a number of Lancaster University experts.
From caste and neoliberalism to alternative histories and literature, the conference, which explores South Asian issues and ideas from both past and present, will take place 10-12 September.
The British Association for South Asian Studies is one of the world’s leading learned societies for the study of South Asia. It is committed to supporting advanced research in the humanities and social sciences of South Asia through international collaborations, conferences and workshops, lectures, research groups, publications and online discussions.
