Research Overview

I am a PhD candidate in Education and Social Justice and a Secondary School and Sixth Form English teacher. My research utilises the Capability Approach to evaluate students’ flourishing, and focuses on three key areas: decolonial pedagogy, diversifying curricula, and supporting school students with additional needs and chronic illnesses. I am passionate about inclusive classroom-based research that promotes diversity, wellbeing and inclusion. My doctoral thesis is a narrative inquiry exploring how chronically ill students who frequently miss school are supported to foster their learning capabilities. Through this, I hope to amplify the voices of marginalised students to inform more equitable practice.
