Jia Hao Foo

I’m Jia Hao Foo, a Junior Front-End Developer in Lancaster University’s ITPI team, where I work on modernising and enhancing the iLancaster app using React Native, Tamagui, and AWS AppSync. I enjoy solving UI challenges, refining user experiences, and learning new tools that push me to grow as a developer. Outside of coding, I’m passionate about bouldering — I like tackling tricky routes much like I do with technical problems: step by step, with persistence and creativity.

Rahul Chaturvedi

Hi, I’m Rahul.

I’m an API Developer at Lancaster University and am currently pursuing an MBA.I focus on designing and maintaining robust, scalable APIs that power a wide range of digital services across the university. With a strong background in software engineering and a growing expertise in business strategy through my MBA, I bridge the gap between technical solutions and user needs. I collaborate closely with developers, product teams, and stakeholders to drive innovation, supporting everything from mobile apps to system integrations with clean, efficient backend services.

Piyush Barik

Hi, I'm Piyush

I am a Junior Front-End Developer for the Innovation team, where I work on improving the user experience for our apps and website. Currently, I have just graduated from Lancaster University, with a Bachelors in Computer Science.

Outside of my academic and professional pursuits, I have a variety of hobbies. I enjoy reading books, listening to podcasts, and watching F1 races. Additionally, I enjoy developing natural language processing and machine learning code.

I'm passionate about coding and often find myself immersed in it until the sun sets. I look forward to learning new skills and gaining valuable experience from the talented team at Innovation.

Lucy Holtom - Previously Marketing Coordinator

3 months after finishing my part time role within the ITPI team and graduating, I am now working as Trainee Marketing Executive within the International Paid Search team at Next PLC!

I am settling into a new city as well as a new role and it has become evident that my experience gained working as the Marketing Coordinator within the ITPI team really helped me in my early career development!

Maria Hristova - Previously Junior Developer

Working for ITPI, I was given space to learn and grow as a developer in an accepting environment. One of the most rewarding experiences was my involvement in enhancing the Lancaster University’s mobile application, iLancaster, which garnered a significant amount of positive feedback from students and academic staff. After my time at ITPI, I went back to Lancaster University to finish my 4th and final year as a Software Engineering student. I know my experience at ITPI and everything I learnt on the job will help me in my studies.

Hi, I'm Donatas.

I was a Junior Front End developer in the ITPI team. I worked on developing upcoming projects for Lancaster University like the ConnectLU app. Everyone on the team was amazing, and it was such a great opportunity to be able to learn from them. I am now focusing on completing my final year of uni!

I worked part-time in the team as a Junior Back-end Developer working on a variety of projects within the team. Now I have a full-time job at the university as an IT Events Engineer.

Hi, I'm James.I was a VR developer and I also did other small jobs like helped run events, set up gear, create/find assets and various smaller projects. Now I'm taking some time off traveling across Asia :)

Atiya was also a third year student working as a Junior Back-End Developer on the new commercial app, and is now focusing on her studies.

Hannah Mullah

Hannah was one of our front-end developers who had newly transitioned careers into the software developer world. She did some work on the commercial app and enjoyed working in such a collaborative team focused on digital innovation.

It was great being of ITPI, I worked with the Innovation Team on engaging cyber VR projects as a Junior Developer, where I've learnt so much from an amazing team.

I am now focusing on my studies as I reach the end of my last year at University as a Software Engineering student.

Ryan was a Junior API Developer in the ITPI team. He worked with innovation to create experimental features. He is a fourth year Lancaster University Computer Science integrated MSci student, currently on his placement.

Finley Barton

Finley was a Marketing Assistant at the ITPI, where he supported the team with the release of our new Innovation products. He was most recently working on the Compassionate Schools Hub Project where he positively impacted the outcome of the project.

Polina Markova

Polina was a Junior Back-End developer at ITPI. What she appreciated most about the ITPI was the diverse array of creative projects and the team: she loved participating in the daily stand-ups and sprint planning sessions.

Working on Mixed Reality experiences in ITPI, I have the opportunity to develop and integrate various VR solutions for our clients. I work on everything from end-product to build tools.

Ava Sims - Previously Senior UX Designer

Leaving Lancaster University's Innovation Team after two incredible years feels surreal. I started as a Marketing Assistant, unsure of exactly where I’d land, but with the support of Brian and Anthony, I found my footing in UX. Ten months later, I stepped into the role of Senior UX Designer - and what a journey it’s been since!

Working under Brian and alongside the Innovation Team has been the most rewarding experience I could have ever asked for after university. I’ve learned what it means to design with empathy and to collaborate with people who genuinely care about making a difference - both within the University and beyond.

Every project has taught me something new. From coaching developers on the Compassionate Schools Hub and seeing those designs impact hundreds of schools, to keeping services like iLancaster and ASK Enquiries fresh, and being part of the exciting innovations emerging in POC.

Thank you for giving me the chance to grow alongside some truly brilliant minds. I’ll never forget this journey.
