Lancaster University Careers Assistant (LUCA) Privacy Notice

Lancaster University Careers Assistant (LUCA) is provided by Lancaster University (LU).

It is a platform that uses AI to support students with CVs, cover letters, and interview preparation. It helps them practise job application skills using feedback-driven tools, available via web and virtual reality.

It aims to complement the LU Careers Service.

1. What data we collect

We collect your:

  • Name
  • University email
  • Data captured from interviews

The platform is not intended to collect personal data however we understand that users may include personal data through online interviews.

2. Why we need your data

We collect your personal data in order to:

  • Give you access to the platform
  • Analyse your answers in mock interviews to provide feedback

3. Our legal basis for processing your data

The legal basis for processing personal data in relation to site security is our legitimate interests, and the legitimate interests of our users, in ensuring the security and integrity of LUCA, our interest in supporting student success, and in the interests of students who expect modern tools for career support.

4. What we do with your data

Your data is not shared with anyone and any inactive data is deleted after 30 days

5. How long we keep your data

Data which is accessed within a 30-day period will remain on your account. Any data which has not been accessed or changed will be deleted after 30 days of inactivity.

6. Where your data is processed and stored

Data is processed in Swedish Data centres but is stored within University’s data stores.

7. How we protect your data and keep it secure

We are committed to doing all that we can to keep your data secure.
