LUMS launches new Low Carbon Innovation Forum
20 April 2017
LUMS launches new 6 month management programme to help directors and managers of 60 Lancashire SMEs think about energy saving processes and new low carbon products.
Places are now available on this six month programme for directors and managers of Lancashire-based small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs). Through workshops, access to Masterclasses, an eco-innovation challenge and company visit; participants will think about energy saving processes, or the development of innovative products or services. Ultimately, the aim of this programme is to produce a measurable reduction in the carbon footprint and will deliver the tools SMEs need to achieve this.
Helen Wilkinson, Programme Manager at Lancaster University Management School, said: “The sustainable business agenda has never been of greater priority. This new collaborative programme gives Lancashire SMEs a space to stop and think about their role in tackling the big issues. It will support SMEs to develop new ways of thinking, while offering the tools to accelerate the use of low carbon technologies and implement a low-carbon business model.”
Through research conducted by the Centre for Global Eco-Innovation, it is estimated that the market for eco-innovation is to be worth £2 billion to the regional economy.
This programme forms part of the Low Carbon Lancashire Innovation Hub which offers bespoke research projects and management expertise for SMEs. The programme is delivered by the Centre for Global Eco-Innovation in conjunction with Lancaster University Management School.
The six month programme is funded through the European Regional Development Fund and is available to ERDF eligible companies.
