Dr Martin Brigham is Senior Lecturer (Associate Professor) in Management and Organization and has served on the faculty at Lancaster University Management School at Lancaster University since 2000.

As an accomplished educator, researcher, and thought leader with expertise and experience in organization science, management education and leadership learning, Dr Brigham's pedagogical leadership and innovation has gained international recognition. With the Financial Times ranking his teaching and leadership in Organisational Behaviour, Corporate Responsibility, and Business Ethics in the world's top 10 four times over the last 15 years. Including #1 in the UK and #7 in the world in 2015 and 2019. Over more than two decades, he has taught, mentored and tutored senior executives, teams and entrepreneurs in the private, public and plural sectors, taught final year undergraduates in advanced organization analysis, graduates the management of organization change, and post-experience learners in responsible business and ethics.

Dr Brigham focuses on engaged scholarship and practical impact, connecting academic ideas and business practice for more than 15 years. Currently Program Chair and Worldwide Academic Director of the International Masters Program for Managers (impm.org), one of the world's pre-eminent senior executive management and organization development programs. Founded in 1996 by Professor Henry Mintzberg at McGill University, the program has been ranked #1 for International Management by Eduniversal North America for 7 consecutive years 2017-23 and ranked #2 currently for 2024. This innovative program is based on co-creating management learning and corporate development through the creative integration of faculty expertise and research with participants’ context-focused insights for engagement and wider impact.

Dr Brigham has published and presented more than 50 journal articles, book chapters, and conference papers. He has been the director of two research centres at Lancaster University. His wide-ranging research expertise over 25 years has focused on technological innovation, reflective leadership and governance, action science and learning applied to senior management and organization development, communication practices in corporate meetings, and organizing sustainability accounting and reporting.

Reporting on innovation to scale impact, Dr Brigham is co-author of the internationally rated and impactful UK REF2021 (UoA 17) Impact Research Case Study: 'Personal, Professional and Organisational Transformation through Action Learning and Reflective Practice Interventions' co-authored with Distinguished Professor Lucas Introna.

Dr Brigham is a Senior Fellow of the Higher Education Academy and a Fellow of the Royal Society of the Arts. He is a member of Lancaster University's Pentland Centre for Sustainability in Business and Centre for Technological Futures.

PhD Supervision Interests

Dr Martin Brigham is interested in supervising PhDs connected to reflective management education and governance, action science and organization learning, meeting practices, and corporate sustainability. He has supervised and examined more than 20 PhDs.
