The Community Day is designed to provide insight into Lancaster University life, build stronger links with the regional community and offer an exciting day of fun and learning for everyone.
The action-packed event has been divided into eight themes, two of which will showcase a range of exciting and insightful science and technology based activities.
Our Amazing Science showcase will give people the opportunity to get involved in inspiring and dynamic chemistry, ecology, maths, physics, and psychology based activities. These include:
- Shape and Space
- Randomisation Exercise
- Sex and Bugs and Rock and Roll
- CSI and Custard Rockets
- Observational Astronomy
- Baby Research put in Practice
Visitors will also be able to take the Tech Trail and explore the amazing world of computing, engineering and technology. Engineers will be presenting their Formula Student racing car, while the 3D printer will be demonstrating the future of manufacturing. The Psychology Department will also be inviting the public to use their eye tracking technology and smartphones to analyse themselves.
Community Day organiser Joe Buglass said: “We have worked hard to make sure there’s something here for people of all ages and interests. Whether or not you’ve been onto campus before, please come along and take a look around – you might find a new hobby or learn something amazing!”
The free event runs from 11am until 4pm, and no booking is necessary – simply drop in on the day. If you are interested in receiving more details about the event, please email public-events@lancaster.ac.uk, or visit the event webpage.
