The Sociology Department celebrates diversity and strives to provide an equal educational opportunity for all undergraduate and postgraduate students, regardless of their gender or personal background.
As part of our submission, we designed a four-year action plan to address some of the equality issues identified around recruitment, development and departmental culture. The departmental Equality, Diversity and Inclusion (EDI) committee is responsible for ensuring the realisation of the plan. This webpage will be updated termly with progress updates.
The full action plan is included as part of the submission document above, a more accessible version can be downloaded below.
Suggestions and feedback around equality, diversity and inclusion within the Sociology department (including those relating to gender) are welcome and can be submitted anonymously online.
Any queries relating to Athena SWAN or the EDI agenda in general can be directed to the Athena SWAN departmental leads Tracey Jensen and Rachel Verrall. Staff and students who wish to join the committee, or become involved in its work please contact Rachel and Vicky.
