We are home to a diverse group of interdisciplinary research centres, which bring together staff and students from across the university and across the world through their research and events.

Centre for Child and Family Justice Research

Bringing together academics, practitioners and policy makers, the work of the Centre is focused on the formal operation of family justice systems, but also broader social justice concerns. The Centre’s mission is to progress cutting-edge research that has real-world impacts with an explicit aim of improving the lives of children, young people and families.

The Cultural Political Economy Research Centre (CPERC) promotes Cultural Political Economy as a trans- and post-disciplinary research paradigm and as a capacity-building resource for the wider academic community within and beyond Lancaster.

Dynamics of Energy, Mobility and Demand (DEMAND)

DEMAND takes a distinctive approach to end use energy demand, recognising that energy is not used for its own sake but as part of accomplishing social practices at home, at work and in moving around. In essence the Centre focuses on what energy is for.
