MA Social Research

Our unique MA Social Research course combines rigorous methodological training with flexible sets of modules in different areas of social inquiry

MA Social Research Pathways

The flexibility of this MA allows students to tailor its content in accordance with their own interests by studying within a particular pathway, without losing the focus on research training. It is recognized by the Northwest Doctoral Training Partnership (Economic and Social Research Council) and therefore is eligible for funding through MA or MA+PhD studentships. Read more about our Master's fees and funding.

Below are details of the ‘typical’ modules studied within each pathway. It is possible for pathways to be slightly amended to tailor them more closely to the student's needs. You can see descriptions of modules on the course structure page. If you have any questions about which pathway is best suited to your interests, please contact us.
