In January-February 2023, the STOR-i Research Fund gave PhD student Peter Greenstreet a unique opportunity to spend 6 weeks in Canada working with Dr Tim Ramsay at the Ottawa Hospital Research Institute (OHRI).

During the placement, Peter worked on four large projects in: astigmatism, aneurysmal subarachnoid haemorrhage, venous thromboembolism, and traumatic brain injury. He also consulted with multiple clinicians to discuss statistical ideas and the issues they were facing, and gained the opportunity to discuss the development of a potential multi centre platform trial. In addition, he was invited to speak to the PCPCRC (Pan-Canadian Palliative Care Research Collaborative) meeting, giving a talk on platform trials.

In summarising his experience, Peter stated: “Overall, the placement was highly beneficial to my future career, giving me the opportunity to learn new skills and gain great experiences in the bio-statistics field.”
