The redevelopment of The Ruskin - Library, Museum and Research Centre at Lancaster University continues with the extension of current exhibition Ruskin: Museum of the Near Future for three months to 28 February 2020.

2019 has been a significant year for The Ruskin. In March Lancaster University and the National Heritage Memorial fund were delighted to announce that the University had purchased the Ruskin Whitehouse Collection. The largest assemblage in the world of works by the artist, critic, environmental and social thinker John Ruskin (1819 – 1900) is now secured at Lancaster University in perpetuity.

The Ruskin relaunched on 26 September with the new exhibition Ruskin: Museum of the Near Future which demonstrates the breadth of the collection by exploring the contemporary relevance of Ruskin’s drawings, paintings and photographs, sketchbooks and diaries, through the dynamic interplay of past, present and future.

Now, visitors are able to enjoy this exhibition for a further three months, enabling the largest possible audience to appreciate the range and diversity of Ruskin’s works that we look after.

For the first time, The Ruskin's doors will open for a weekend, on 14/15 December to give even more people the opportunity to visit.
