Research Overview

My research interests lie in the field of insolvency law, particularly in corporate rescue. In my LLB I developed this interest in corporate insolvency law and my dissertation provided a comparative analysis of corporate rescue in the UK (pre-covid).

Then, from 2020-2021 I completed an LLM in International Trade and Commercial Law at Durham University. Here, my dissertation looked at the legitimacy of pre-packaged administations in the UK, and compared them with the US chapter 11 bankruptcy procedure.

This led me to my PhD, which aims to assess the effectiveness of Corporate Rescue in the UK. The thesis will also consider whether there is any true purpose in corporate rescue. And, if there is not then whether distressed companies should be left to 'die' without the aid of corporate rescue procedures, allowing for creative destruction.
