We are delighted to announce that CWD member, Philip Pedley, has been awarded his PhD. Philip’s thesis is entitled ‘The Anglosphere Core as a Pluralistic Security Community’. His work explores the development of what Pedley argues constitutes a security community among core Anglosphere states (US, UK, Canada, Australia, New Zealand) in the years since the Second World War. The thesis unearthed previously unrecognised connections between these states in the realm of military and intelligence cooperation, based on shared values and ideals.

Philip’s doctoral studies were supervised by CWD Director, Thomas Mills, and Patrick Bishop, Senior Lecturer in the Department of Politics, Philosophy and Religion. The thesis was examined by Gwythian Prins, Emeritus Professor at the LSE, and Mark Lacy, Senior Lecturer in PPR.

Congratulations to Philip on such a significant achievement.
