Applications are subject to availability and to meeting the eligibility criteria and/or entry requirements. Staff teaching Lancaster awards at a strategic international teaching partnership institution
Availability of CEDA provision is agreed in advance via a partnership agreement, and in conjunction with the Head of CEDA or delegate. Applications are subject to availability and to meeting the eligibility criteria and/or entry requirements for individual programmes, and/or as per the requirements of the partnership agreement. Programmes are undertaken at no cost, however, there may be a fee implication for professional recognition and these differ depending on whether the partner has an institutional subscription with Advance HE.
Sub-contracted / associates employed by a partner organisation (including honorary contracts) who teach Lancaster awards
CEDA programmes may be accessed for a fee*, subject to applicants meeting the specific eligibility criteria/entry requirements for individual programmes, and subject to programme availability.
Programme eligibility
Applications to certificated and/or accredited programmes are subject to meeting the specific eligibility criteria/entry requirements for individual programmes, and subject to programme availability. Entry requirements are detailed on programme information pages and may be subject to change.
In all cases, due to a condition of the University’s accreditation with Advance HE, staff must be able to complete programmes accredited against the Professional Standards Framework for Teaching and Supporting Learning in HE (PSF) 2023 within the duration of their employment with the University. (ie any programme that leads to the award of any category of Advance HE recognition). Recognition cannot be awarded to colleagues who have left the institution before submitting work for assessment or peer review.
The Curriculum and Education Development Academy (CEDA) reserve the right to withdraw a participant from a programme if they are no longer active with Lancaster University and/or have a Lancaster University email. Participants are responsible for contacting us at CED Academy as soon as they know they are due to leave the university, so that we can confirm the options available to them.
Programme and workshop fees
Places on CEDA provision are available at no cost to staff contracted by Lancaster University, or where prior arrangement has been made in the context of a strategic international teaching partnership (ie Sunway University, LUC@BJTU, LU Ghana and LU Leipzig).
*Where a course fee applies, these are calculated at cost on an annual basis and can be provided to applicants at the point of enquiry.
Professional recognition fees
A professional recognition fee applies to participants completing any Advance HE accredited programme leading to either Associate Fellowship, Fellowship or Senior Fellowship. However, this fee is waived for members of staff employed by an Advance HE subscribing institution. (Fees are paid for via the cost of annual subscription). Lancaster University (including LU Leipzig as a branch campus) and Sunway University are Advance HE subscribing institutions.
Professional recognition fees for staff employed by partner organisations in LU Ghana and LUC@BJTU must be met by the employing partner or the individual.
For all other participants completing Advance HE accredited programmes, a professional recognition fee applies.
This fee varies depending on the category of Fellowship to be awarded.
Please note that the cost of making a direct application to Advance HE for Associate Fellowship, Fellowship or Senior Fellowship will not be met centrally. Individuals wishing to pursue Principal Fellowship can enquire with CED Academy about eligibility for support.
Cancellation charges
The majority of the costs for internal development activity is borne centrally by the CEDA budget and is not charged to departments or individuals
We understand that plans can change and that cancelling places on programmes, workshops and events are sometimes unavoidable. However, if there is no option but to cancel it is essential that colleagues email CED Academy at the earliest opportunity, preferably at least 48 hours in advance of the start, in order to release their place to another colleague.
Development provision requires viable numbers and frequently involves the forward expenditure of facilitator fees, catering, room reservations, resource production, and the overheads associated with administering and coordinating provision. In circumstances where there are costs repeatedly incurred by the department for unreasonably late cancellation or non-attendance, we reserve the right to charge departments to recoup such costs. In cases of illness or other mitigating circumstances, we will exercise sensible discretion. In all instances, we will liaise with Heads of Department or line managers to flag any patterns of concern before escalating.
