Vision

Our vision is to bring together the community of cyber security leadership practitioners to share their practice and experience and to co-create a vision for cyber security leadership, whilst creatively tackling the problems of today. This is the only event dedicated to the advancement of cyber security leadership where participants can learn and network with the best. Whether you are seeking progress in your career or to discover what it means to be a cyber security leader this is the event for you.

This event aims primarily at facilitating exchanges of experiences in using innovative leadership practice and formalizing a network of professionals who are interested in cyber security leadership. It will cover a broad spectrum of topics, including new technologies, methods of thinking and broader global trends impacting on our security. You are fully encouraged to invite interested parties from your own networks and organisations.

The Need for Cyber Security Leaders

The demand for cyber security leaders has never been higher. The UK Department for Science, Innovation and Technology (DSIT) Cyber Security Labour Market Survey 2022 highlights a continuing need and trend in cyber security leadership and management

  • A lack of cyber security understanding in management boards and c-suite decision makers outside the cyber sector
  • A lack of a comprehensive training pathway to move into management positions
  • An increased lack of leadership and management skills in cyber security job candidates (4 in 10)
  • Cyber Security Manager is the third highest in-demand job role at 14% of job adverts
  • 52% of cyber firms have found it hard to fill management roles including at senior levels
  • Cyber leads in around 3 in 10 businesses and 4 in 10 charities admit to being uncertain how cyber security could affect business performance
  • Almost half of the private sector cyber leads are not confident in their ability to carry out cyber risk assessments or develop cyber policies
  • Around 4 in 10 cyber leads lack confidence in carrying out data protection impact assessments or writing cyber business continuity plans.

To have good cyber security, we need good cyber security leaders! This symposium is for you to develop as a leader and engage with other practitioners so that collectively we can deliver a step changing in cyber security leadership in the UK.
