Lancaster Leipzig welcomes its first Visiting Researcher

Dr Anna-Lena Sachs, a Lecturer in Predictive Analytics in the Management School has become the first Visiting Researcher at Lancaster’s Leipzig campus.
Dr Sachs’ research focuses on inventory management, the intersection to forecasting and behavioural operations management.
She will collaborate with colleagues in Leipzig and also deliver lectures and seminars on her work to Leipzig academic colleagues and students. Engagement with business, a core part of her work, will also benefit from her appointment. Her proposed work with Leipzig also informed a recent research funding application to the Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft, DFG, Germany’s central self-governing research funding organisation.
Dr Mark Brewer, Academic Dean of Lancaster Leipzig says, ‘I am delighted that we have been able to strengthen the relationship between Bailrigg and Leipzig through Dr Sachs’ appointment as Visiting Researcher. This demonstrates the attractiveness of the Leipzig campus as a destination for researchers. We are now beginning to explore a number of avenues with regards to collaborative research activities and my door is open to colleagues from across the institution if they wish to discuss their ideas.’
Constanze Vageler, Senior Research Development Manager in Research and Enterprise Services said, ‘It has been an absolute pleasure to work with Dr Mark Brewer and Dr Anna-Lena Sachs on developing research activities in Leipzig and contributing to the submission of a proposal to Germany’s primary funding agency. I am very much looking forward to continuing the conversations and exploring the huge potential Leipzig offers for researchers'.
