The project brings together researchers from Lancaster University and New York University to explore the ethical implications of using AI to interpret and translate more-than-human communication, and what these developments might mean for conservation and human relationships with other species.

The conference will feature more than 30 speakers and contributors, including keynote talks by Ursula Heise (UCLA), Eva Meijer, César Rodríguez-Garavito (NYU), Şebnem Susam-Saraeva (Edinburgh University) and a performance by Khairani Barokka. Across seven panels, discussions will explore themes including AI and interspecies translation, animal communication and welfare, conservation and ecological networks, public engagement, environmental activism, and multispecies governance.

Keynote sessions will also be live-streamed.
