Congratulations to Wiktoria Allan, our PhD student in Linguistics and English Language, who has recently received the 2026 TOEFL Grant for Doctoral Research in Language Assessment from Educational Testing Service, USA. Vicky’s research was also recognized by a previous Dissertation Research Award in Language Assessment in 2025 from the Duolingo English Test. These awards are testaments to the high quality and rigour, as well as the potential impact, of Vicky’s PhD project, which is a mixed-methods study evaluating the impact of extended time accommodations in English language testing on university students with ADHD. The funding will allow Vicky to compensate participants for their time and effort in completing integrated skills writing tasks under different timing conditions and sharing their insights in post-test interviews. The financial assistance will also allow her to travel to other universities in Germany for data collection as well as train and compensate task raters.

We congratulate Vicky on her success in securing two prestigious grants supporting her PhD project.

Vicky Allan is supervised by Professor Judit Kormos.
