Swap, share and support sustainability with the Library’s new Book Exchange
You’ll find the Book Exchange on A Floor of the Library, just to the right of the main entrance.
How it works:
- Got books you’ve finished with? Bring along your gently used, good-quality books and leave them for someone else to enjoy.
- No books to donate? No problem! Come and browse – you might find your next great read waiting for you.
By donating, you’re helping us support sustainability and give books a second life. Donated books may be added to the Library’s collection if they fit our teaching and research needs – see our our Content and Scholarship vision for more details. Books we can’t use will be responsibly resold or recycled through our partners AnyBook and Better World Books.
Please note:
We can’t accept theses, journals, dissertations, or audiovisual materials. DVDs and CDs can be donated at other points on campus. See our Donating Items to the Library page for full details.
The Book Exchange was developed in response to a staff suggestion to the University Sustainability Team and is part of our ongoing commitment to a greener, more sustainable campus. The donation box itself was recycled from old library furniture by Lancaster Community Makerspace who take our old shelving for recycling and reuse. Come and take part – share a book, find a book, and make a difference!
