A half-day workshop led by Dr Natalie Sorrell Charlesworth (Department of English and Creative Writing, Lancaster University) and Dr Sarah Neely (Film and Television Studies, University of Glasgow). Take part in writing exercises using a selection of archival papers and memorabilia relating to cinema-going in Britain in the 1930s, including film star cigarette cards, fan magazines, scrap books, diaries and more! The workshop forms part of the AHRC-funded Cinema Memory and the Digital Archive research project being run by Lancaster University, Glasgow University and Queen Mary University, London. For more details of the project see: lancaster.ac.uk/cmda).

Beginners and experienced writers welcome.

As a product of the workshops, we are planning a special issue of LUNE (https://issuu.com/lunejournal4) that will draw on some of the material derived from the workshop, and will include a specially commissioned piece by Louise Welsh, who was an artist-in-residence on the project.
