This interactive workshop is ideal for PhD students new to Lancaster University.

Learn everything you need to know to get started using the Library, including how to navigate your way round the online and physical library, access electronic resources, learn about the services available through the Library and be introduced to the teams here to support you.

The session is open to students across disciplines, and therefore will be generic in content.

The course will introduce you to:

  • What the Library has to offer and how it works

  • How to use OneSearch, the Library catalogue, to find electronic and print resources

  • Library Subject Guides – a good starting point for discipline specific Library resources

  • Finding and accessing past theses

By the end of this course you should be able to:

  • Find your way around the physical and online Library

  • Use OneSearch to find what you need and manage your account

  • Borrow, renew and request an item

  • Navigate around your Subject Guide

  • Identify specialist resources for your discipline

  • Access past theses to support your research

  • Be aware of the reference management software supported by the Library
