Lancaster Virtual Asia Careers Fair connects students with global employers

More than 150 students gained precious insights into future career opportunities in Asia as part of an international employability initiative.

Students from Lancaster’s UK and overseas campuses, as well as from 12 top UK institutions, including the University of Cambridge, London School of Economics, and University College London, took part.
They joined with employers including multinational giants such as PwC China, J.P. Morgan, BOE Technology, CATL, HONOR, Decathlon China, Societe Generale, FDM Group, Forvis Mazars in Hong Kong, and Kroll.
The event featured both Mandarin-speaking and English-speaking sessions, exploring career opportunities across diverse industries and geographies.
Students engaged in Q&A sessions and company presentations that highlighted roles in finance, technology, consulting, and marketing. The event was livestreamed on Chinese social media platform Weibo to extend its reach across Asia, with more than 800 views.
The fair opened with a welcome address from Dr Derek Hird, Interim Director of the Lancaster University Confucius Institute, who emphasised the importance of cross-cultural career engagement.
May Wang, International Careers Manager in LUMS, led the initiative. She said: “We curated a dynamic programme that showcased employer insights and career pathway options for students interested in working in Asia.
“It was a delight to connect students with global employers and showcase how employability enriches the international student experience.”
