The Pentland Centre is holding a seminar on What on earth is a market? Researching markets and market-making for environmental sustainability by Dr Josi Fernandes.
Josi’s experience researching various market cases will serve as the backdrop for this seminar, which will explore what it means to take ‘markets’ as a unit of analysis, and what this position allows and reveals in contrast with other understandings across the marketing discipline and the challenges it poses. How spatiality and temporality are folded into market-making will also be discussed as a promising avenue for exploring questions of responsibility and ethics in marketing and market-making practice.
NB: The seminar runs from 15:00-16:00 in LUMS LT 19 and on Teams.
Open to LU staff and students.

Josi Fernandes is interested in the making and (re)organisation of moral markets that connect with and respond to the UN SDGs. Specifically, Josi is interested in the relationship between spatiality and temporality in the making of moral markets. She has explored these matters through past and ongoing projects in a variety of contexts and markets. Her work has been published in the British Journal of Management, Journal of Business Management and Env Res Letters, amongst others.
