Leading engineering businesses have showcased the exciting and varied career options available to hundreds of students at Lancaster University’s Engineering department’s annual Careers Fair.

Around 25 businesses including EDF, Jaguar Land Rover, Network Rail and BAE Systems attended the event, which is designed to provide students with detailed information on job opportunities and placements and give them a clearer idea of the wide range of career options in front of them.

Dr Allan Rennie, who leads on industrial placements for Lancaster University's Engineering Department, said: “It was very pleasing to see such a good turn out from leading industrial organisations, supporting the department in its annual Careers Fair dedicated to engineering students.

“The students very much appreciate the opportunity to network with these employers and to learn of the expectations of the recruitment process and the graduate employment market. Activities like these are testament to the department’s success in employability, with the most recent data indicating that 100 per cent of our students secure positive destinations in industry, or go on to further academic study.”

This year’s careers fair was the first to be held in the department’s new building, which was officially opened in March this year.
