Meet Lyea Rivers...
Lyea first interacted with WIP in 2023, when she attended the Engagement Academy, Virtual Pitch Club and Freelancer Workshop. Lyea said ‘These events helped me develop my entrepreneurial competencies as well as helping me build my confidence to learn and try new things.’
Lyea has a keen interest in sustainability and with the skills she gained from the Engagement Academy, she was able to work with the Enactus team to produce a sustainability project which then went on to become one of the top 8 finalists in the Enactus UK Action for Impact Project Incubator 2023!
Teamwork plays a huge part in enterprise and all Work in Progress events aim to help people develop their teamwork skills in a safe space. Lyea credits Work in Progress for helping her develop her teamwork skills which helped her when she worked with a group of students to produce a Student Report for the LUMS Accreditation process, which her team were then nominated for a Dean’s Award.
Here is what Lyea had to say about Work in Progress: ‘I have made very lovely friends, valuable connections and a wider professional network through Work in Progress events and I am forever grateful. Work in Progress have helped me to start my entrepreneur story and I am looking forward to continuing to access the resources available at the WIP to continue with my entrepreneur journey.’
