Booking is now open for Theatres of War: The New Researchers' Conference of the British Commission for Military History, 8-9 November 2019.
Hosted by Lancaster's Centre for War and Diplomacy, the conference features new research from over sixty delegates from across the world, as well as a keynote lecture by Professor John Gillingham FBA (LSE) on ‘War and the Enslavement of the Enemy’s Women: From the Iliad to the Islamic State’.
The conference, now in its ninth year, fosters new and innovative research particularly amongst doctoral, post-doctoral and early career researchers. The theme of this year's conference is 'Theatres of War'.
The principal conference venue on Friday 8 November will be The Storey, in central Lancaster. The keynote lecture will be delivered on Friday evening at Lancaster Priory, next to The Storey. The venue on Saturday 9 November will be Lancaster University campus.
