CWD Director Professor Marco Wyss has been appointed as a Research Fellow at Stellenbosch University within the Department of Military History of its Faculty of Military Science.

Through such appointments, Stellenbosch University gives recognition to individuals for their proven specialized expertise, and to involve them in the research programmes of the relevant organisational unit.

In this role, Prof Wyss is looking forward to continue his cooperation with Dr Evert Kleynhans and other colleagues in the Faculty of Military Science, notably on the Handbook of African Defence and Armed Forces (under contract with Oxford University Press), as well as other research projects.

The appointment also builds on collaboration between Stellenbosch and Lancaster - together with the universities of Amsterdam and Calgary and Sciences Po Aix - in the Military History Consortium, which connects institutions, academics, and students engaged in the study of warfare and/or military organisations in the past.
