This session will discuss a longitudinal study of students’ experiences of study degrees in England, South Africa and the United States of America, focusing on data generation, analysis and writing study outcomes
We will discuss an international research partnership that developed through the ESRC, Office for Students and Research England funded Centre for Global Higher Education project ‘Understanding Knowledge and Student Agency’. This project involved a partnership between researchers from Lancaster University, University of Cape Town, Stellenbosch University and Virginia Tech to undertake a longitudinal study of students’ experiences of study degrees in Chemistry and in Chemical Engineering in England, South Africa and the United States of America. In the seminar, we will first set out the approach we have taken to organising our collaborative work in terms of data generation, data analysis and writing our outcomes. Our writing has involved working in five international working groups examining different aspects of our research outcomes. In the seminar, we will examine three of these and outline both the ways in which the groups have operated and the outcomes of their work.
