the session will show how research and practice can engage more meaningfully with young men
CfJ invites you to the next session in the From Insight to Action series, bringing together research, practice and lived experience.
We are delighted to welcome Andrea Waling, a Senior Research Fellow in Social Care whose work focuses on young people, masculinities, and relationships. Her research brings together social care, sexual health, and gender, with a particular focus on how care experienced and NEET young men navigate intimacy, connection, and identity in contexts of disconnection, inequality, and rapid social and digital change.
This session opens up a set of pressing questions about how we engage with young men whose experiences are often overlooked or misunderstood. What does it take to build trust? How are relationships shaped in contexts of instability, exclusion, and shifting social norms? And what does it mean to work alongside young people through co production and public involvement?
Rather than offering easy answers, the session creates space for reflection on the role of research in shaping more responsive, relational, and grounded forms of support.
