I am a socio-legal scholar and my main research interests lie in mediation and ADR and how these processes interact with formal civil justice systems and impact the workings of lawyers and judges. I am also interested in online dispute resolution, courts and technology and international commercial dispute resolution.
Career Details
I joined Lancaster University as Professor and Head of the School of Law in September 2025. Prior to this I was Professor of Law and Civil Justice at Newcastle University (2019-2025) and before then Professor of Law at Strathclyde University, serving as Head of School from 2013-2016.
