LUMS Careers Events

These are the services we offer employers to participate in to engage with Lancaster University students. Explore each tab for a definition and examples of each event with examples.

Tab Content: Deliver a Presentation!

Give students an opportunity to learn about your organisation, career pathways (graduate programmes, internships, placements) and other opportunities available! This can be done through:

  • Presentations
  • Webinars
  • Virtual Open Days
  • Taster Events
  • Insight Sessions

Tab Content: Lead a Workshop!

Lead a workshop based on essential employability skills led by industry professionals—YOU! These can include sessions on:

  • Mock interviews
  • Mock assessment centres
  • Practice psychometric testing
  • Tips for networking
  • LinkedIn
  • Application tips
  • Workplace etiquette
  • CV writing
  • Or build your own skills session!

Tab Content: Serve on a Panel!

Participate in industry/sector panels with others from similar backgrounds to provide insight into the real work of the industry.

Tab Content: Host a Drop-in or Spotlight!

Host a Spotlight Stand in our Cafe area or near one of the monitors in the Management School with a high-traffic area. This will allow you to engage with students interested in receiving quick information in the form of leaflets, brochures, handouts, and other materials.

Host a Drop-in session to interact with students on a 1-to-1 basis. Themes of Drop-in Sessions can be CV Clinics, cover letter feedback, providing assistance on your organisation's graduate programme application process, or giving general information about the organisation and opportunities available.

Tab Content: Participate in a Careers Fair!

Participate in a Careers Fair where your organisation would have a stand and opportunity to engage with students looking for entry-level jobs, graduate jobs, placements, internships, etc.

(Depending on the type and length of the fair, a networking event may also be attached for pre-event networking the evening before the Fair to connect with students in an informal setting. Other forms of networking sessions and opportunities will be available throughout the year.)

Advertise with Us!

We are aware that employers may choose to host their own events to reach a wider student population than just Lancaster University. Contact us to share these opportunities for free on Lancaster University’s TARGETconnect platform. These can include but are not limited to, webinars, insight days, fairs, business games, workshops, and other presentations.

Other advertising opportunities can include:

  • Targeted emails: promote your organisation, opportunities, or event to a select group of students.
  • Social media promotion: promote your event or organisation’s opportunities on LUMS Careers’ social media to heighten your engagement and reach
