MBA networking opportunities

The more senior your role, the more likely it is that networking will be a key element in finding it, researching it, securing it and making a success of it.

Students join the Lancaster MBA with networks from their connections and previous positions already in place and are keen to extend them through the MBA community. We offer business networking opportunities to meet guest speakers, alumni, company project sponsors and business leaders in a variety of contexts.

Lancaster MBA students have been regular attendees at the Institute of Directors’ Annual Convention.  They have heard a variety of speakers from business (Royal Mail, Better Capital, La Diosa, Diageo etc.), including two speakers with Lancaster connections (Jon Moulton and Kevin Roberts).

We encourage students to visit companies to understand the sector, culture and opportunities that might be available to them on finishing their programme. In the UK, we have visited Coca-Cola Enterprises, EMC, Decus, Lloyd’s of London and Barclaycard as part of the Careers Advancement Programme for full-time students. Other companies have featured as integral elements of the MBA programme itself, for instance Jaguar Land Rover as part of the operations module, a variety of organisations as part of the challenge elements and CEO insights from Saatchi & Saatchi.

The class visit London in the summer to meet alumni and other business contacts for a day of presentations and networking. This event is the culmination of the Careers Advancement Programme and is the launch pad for students making the transition from study to work.

MBA students take part in business games, international MBA tournaments and networking with students from other business schools. We are always open to supporting students who suggest networking events they might like to attend that will inform and enlighten their career thinking.

‌Through the Carnet Alliance, students at Lancaster have access to a wide network of students, alumni and careers advisers from partner business schools in Europe. Students can also network through The Lancaster MBA and Carnet Alliance LinkedIn groups.
