Biological Sciences has firmly placed in the top ten, having been ranked 5th in the UK overall, 2nd for student experience, 3rd for the quality of teaching, and 9th for graduate prospects. Lancaster Environment Centre also saw success with Geography and Environmental Science, which ranked 8th and were recognised as 6th for graduate prospects.
Also coming in 8th overall, Physics has achieved 3rd place for teaching quality, 4th for student experience, and 9th for graduate prospects. These results reflect the Department’s excellence in teaching and commitment to supporting the employability of its graduates.
Mathematics has maintained its top ten position, having ranked joint 9th overall. The subject has also been recognised for its fantastic graduate prospects, placing 5th.
We are particularly excited to announce that Chemistry has made its first appearance in the Good University Guide and has achieved 9th position, placing it among the best in the UK. The subject has shown particular strength in the quality of teaching and student experience provided, ranking 6th and 10th respectively.
Science and Technology has demonstrated particular excellence for our graduate prospects, with many subjects ranking among the top ten. Chemical Engineering and Computer Science have both been recognised as 2nd in the UK and Mechanical Engineering is 5th.
University of the Year
The University has received the Times and Sunday Times University of the Year award, and has achieved its highest rank to date, climbing three places to 6th overall. It has also taken the top spot for Best University in the North West, an achievement it has held for over a decade, and Best Campus University. These noteworthy accolades sit alongside its Teaching Excellence Framework (TEF) Gold award and fantastic result in the National Student Survey (NSS) for student experience.
