Digital Security and Safety

Digital safety is a core part of the Lancaster experience. Every student completes cyber-hygiene training during induction so they can work, study and collaborate securely.

What Students Learn

  • How to recognise phishing and scams
  • Creating strong passwords & using multi-factor authentication
  • Protecting devices from malware
  • Safe use of cloud tools and collaboration platforms
  • Avoiding social engineering
  • Understanding digital rights and privacy
  • Handling personal and sensitive data responsibly

Why it matters

The habits students build at university stay with them through their careers. Knowing how to protect information, spot threats and avoid risky behaviour is essential in every professional field — from healthcare to finance to public service.
