This session will explore the links between ideas of the civic university and internationalisation in higher education drawing upon the research and broad experience of the speakers.

This is a joint event between the Centre for Higher Education Research and Evaluation (CHERE) and the LEAD2 Project, based at the Free University of Brussels, Belgium (VUB). LEAD2 is a capacity building project supported by the European Union’s Erasmus+ programme. The Project is concerned with enhancing academic leadership and governance in Chinese and European universities in the context of innovation and internationalisation. The Project brings together original research with leadership development through a series of MOOCs, workshops and other activities. LEAD2 has 12 partner universities across Europe and China and another 25 associated universities, including Lancaster. Professor John Taylor who chairs the event has contributed to many LEAD2 activities and has undertaken a quality review for the Project to date.
