The Complete University Guide 2023 has listed our study of French, German, Italian, and Spanish respectively at 3^rd place in terms of overall ranking, with all four languages also being placed individually as 1^st for Graduate Prospects.

The Times and Sunday Times Good University Guide 2023 ranks Spanish 13^th and French 12^th in the UK.

The Guardian University Guide 2023 has us 21^st in the UK for ‘Modern Languages and Linguistics’.

The QS World Subject Rankings 2024 has ranked us 72nd for 'Modern Languages'.

Lancaster University is placed 45^th in the world for Arts and Humanities in the Times Higher Education World University Rankings 2022.

In the most recent Research Excellence Framework (REF 2021), The Department of Languages and Cultures research contributed to Lancaster University's excellent results in several different submissions, including Art and Design, and English Language and Literature:

• 85% of our research environment rated world-leading (REF2021: Art and Design)
