The Future of the Library

Dr Nathan Jones has been awarded £10,000 funding by Cyprus Ministry of Education and Culture, and an invitation from NeME gallery in Limasol, Cyprus to take a new exhibition of reading and archival technologies Bibliotech to Eastern Europe in Autumn 2021. This supplements £15,000 from Arts Council England, to produce the exhibition in partnership with Exhibition Research Lab at Liverpool John Moores University, which has been postponed, but will happen in January 2022.

Bibliotech is a collaboration between Dr Jones and Sam Skinner, who together run innovative publisher Torque. The exhibition will feature work commissioned by British Library, and other new speculative artworks that ask what role technologies such as machine learning, speed reading and optical character recognition might have in the future of the library.
