Fine Art trip to exhibition of Feminist Art at Nottingham Contemporary

On Saturday 19th January a group of Fine Art Undergraduate students from all years of study visited the exhibition Still I Rise at Nottingham Contemporary art gallery.

The exhibition has attracted national and international acclaim for its presentation of feminist and post- feminist work dealing with issues of gender and political activism. As so many students in their final year are either writing on or making work about gender or feminist themes LICA decided to put on a coach trip to see it. The response was over whelming and we ended up taking students across all years. While it is a three hour journey, we started early and arrived home in the early evening and all seemed to agree it was time well spent. Senior Lecturer Sarah Casey said “subsidised trips of this kind are really valuable because they enable students to see world class art at first hand that they wouldn’t otherwise experience. Student’s find it a game changer for their practice. Seeing as much art as possible is a something we encourage in our students and running trips is a great way of supporting them to do this.”
