Research Overview

I am an infectious disease epidemiologist with a particular interest in how diseases spread in structured populations, such as the spread of respiratory pathogens in schools or STIs through sexual networks. In particular, I'm interested in how population structures influence epidemic dynamics, intervention effectiveness. I am particularly interested whether structural assumptions in models impact their predictions.I'm currently undertaking a Wellcome Early Career Award fellowship, focussing on school-level outbreak control, combining primary data collection in schools with secondary data analysis of school data with infectious disease modelling with health-economic evaluation of broader outcomes.I am also an Honorary Research Fellow at Imperial College London, and in that position I am continuing to develop models to understand the impact and cost-effectiveness of STI control.
