Following Tuesday's graduation celebrations, we reflected on an exceptional year at Lonsdale College and recognised the incredible contribution made by this year's graduates. Through their leadership, dedication and commitment to College life, our graduates helped make the year one to remember.

This year, the Lonsdale JCR was recognised with the JCR Executive of the Year award, a testament to the hard work, commitment and passion of the entire executive team in supporting the student experience across the College. We would like to pay particular tribute to graduating Executive members Kate Bracewell, Eve Potter, Ellen Foggarty and Amelia Brown, and thank them for the countless hours they dedicated to strengthening our community, organising events and representing their fellow students.

Our student community also continued to make a meaningful impact beyond campus. The Lonsdale football teams raised more than £8,000 for Movember, supporting men's mental health initiatives and raising awareness of an important cause. We would particularly like to recognise graduate and Football President Ollie Portlock, whose leadership and dedication helped make this remarkable achievement possible.

Another highlight of the year came during Founders, Lancaster University's annual competition between the founding colleges. After four years of Bowland success, Lonsdale reclaimed the Founders title in spectacular fashion. Everyone who competed, volunteered, supported events or proudly wore blue throughout the weekend played a part in bringing the trophy home once again. We would also like to give special recognition to graduating Netball President Georgie Johansen, Bar Sports President Harriet Draper and Ollie Portlock for their leadership, commitment and contribution to this year's success.

We were also delighted to celebrate the success of our current JCR President, Kate Bracewell, who was elected President of Lancaster University Students' Union for 2026-27. This was a tremendous achievement and one that reflected the leadership, dedication and values she demonstrated throughout her time at Lonsdale.

While these achievements deserve special recognition, they represent just a small snapshot of what our graduating students contributed during their time at Lonsdale College. Whether through academic success, sport, volunteering, societies, fundraising, supporting fellow students or simply helping to create a welcoming and inclusive community, every graduate played a part in shaping Lonsdale.

To all of our graduates, thank you for everything you brought to Lonsdale College. We are incredibly proud of your achievements, grateful for the legacy you leave behind, and wish you every success in the future. Wherever your next chapter takes you, you will always be a valued part of the Lonsdale family.
