Eighty senior education leaders from across the UK and beyond gathered in Lancaster over three days in May for the Deeper Learning UK conference 2026 (DLUK). As part of the conference, leaders visited schools and colleges, heard from like-minded colleagues, networked and strengthened the connections that make this community so valuable to those aiming to transform education. This year’s event was hosted by Lancaster University and Fylde Coast Academy Trust (FCAT), key partners in both the Morecambe Bay Curriculum and Compass Curriculum.

Deeper Learning Delegates 2026

Attendees visited Lancaster University, Lancaster and Morecambe College, Ripley St Thomas Church of England Academy, Sandcastles Nursery and Eden Project Morecambe HQ to learn about how the Morecambe Bay Curriculum community have worked together to embed place-based, sustainability education into all educational ages and phases.

“We know that young people learn best through real life experiences, so it was a pleasure to put that into practice with our Deeper Learning network and bring them to see the amazing work happening in and around Morecambe Bay. More than 80 colleagues from innovative schools and colleges around the UK came together to see and learn from this collaborative approach. From picking up crabs and learning about biodiversity at beach school, to toasting marshmallows and vising the school farm to learning about how sustainability threads through every aspect of the FE curriculum, everyone came away enthused and ready to take back lessons to their own areas. A huge thanks to the Morecambe Bay team for hosting us and being part of this exciting and dynamic network”
