NEW - Engagement & Opportunities Fund

swimmer

Undergraduate members of the County College are able to apply for grants of up to £50 to allow them to take advantage of any activity or opportunity that they would not otherwise be able to afford. Applications must explain how the requested funds will benefit their student experience or ability to engage in extra-curricular activities. As this fund is all about helping students to overcome financial barriers to engaging in university life, applicants must provide a bank statement (most recent month) to evidence the requirement for financial support.

Successfulcandidates will be asked to produce a written report of 300-500 words describing how the grant was used to enhance their student experience, and this must be submitted to the College Manager within one month of receiving the money.

Email Ali Moorhouse, County College Manager to request an application form or pop into her office first for a chat about the fund.

BACKGROUND

The College 1000 is a scheme whereby alumni can make small, regular donations to the university; 50% of the donated funds helps to pay for student scholarships and the other 50% comes straight into their college. The County College will use these donated funds to ensure that all students can fully engage with college life and make the most of their time at university.

Here in the County College, we recognise the value of students getting involved; there is so much more to university life than studying! But we also recognise that some students face more barriers to getting involved than others. Have you ever wanted to join a college sports team or a student society, but could not afford the membership fee? Have you ever wanted to take advantage of an opportunity but just did not have the cash? Then this fund is for you.
