Social Life at Lancaster University

There are plenty of opportunities to take a break from your studies and socialise in Graduate College, with weekly activities, a dedicated social space and even a bar.

Social space

Our recently refurbished social space includes a selection of popular box games as well as pool, darts and table tennis (ping pong). There is also a College Xbox, which you can borrow from the Porter and use in the social area.

The PG Board organise regular events for students that we advertise via social media and the weekly newsletter. Recent events include quiz nights, movie nights, a stress-buster evening and our regular Friday night socials.

On the first Thursday of the month we also host New Cafe, which is an opportunity to share your research, network with fellow postgraduates, and enjoy free pizza too!

The Herdwick

Graduate College has its very own bar – the Herdwick – which can be found opposite the social space, in the square by the Porters’ Lodge.

The Herdwick has been featured in the Campaign for Real Ale's Good Beer Guide since 2003 and has by far the largest range of cask ales and real ciders on campus along with over 20 single malts whiskies and mead.

Curry lovers should also visit the bar on a Friday nights for the weekly curry night.
