What is the circle mentoring programme?

This programme is a positive action pilot initiative developed to support aspiring clinical psychologists from Black, Asian and other racially minoritised (Global Majority) backgrounds.

The programme creates six one-off, supportive group mentoring sessions (or circles) bringing together mentors and mentees in small informal groups.

Although all sessions will cover both topics, each Circle will have a main discussion focus of either:

  • the Doctorate in Clinical Psychology (DClinPsy) selection and interview process
  • racialised identity and experiences within the profession

By engaging both qualified Clinical Psychologists and community mentors from Global Majority backgrounds, the pilot aims to explore meaningful, inclusive ways to widen access to the profession. The insights gathered from this pilot will inform ongoing efforts to make Clinical Psychology training and support more equitable and representative.
