A leading advocate for designing healthier towns and cities will speak to delegates at the next Health Innovation Campus event in Lancaster.

Will Butler-Adams OBE, CEO of Brompton Bicycle, will discuss how leaders can inspire people to make positive changes during the free ‘Future Places: Enabling Healthier Lifestyles’ event at the Lancaster House Hotel on 7 February 2020.

He will outline how Brompton’s workplace health initiatives and 'Campaign for Movement' encourage exercise and highlight the critical need to design green, open spaces to ensure communities live healthy lifestyles.

As part of its business support project – fully funded by the European Regional Development Fund – the Health Innovation Campus delivers a programme of workshops and events for SMEs and third sector organisations.

Dr Sherry Kothari, Director of the Health Innovation Campus, said: “We are excited to have someone as creative and entrepreneurial as Will to come and share his insight on encouraging healthier lifestyles through fitness, exercise and fun.

“Brompton Bicycle is famous for its innovative folding cycles, which have almost taken on a cult following across the nation, transforming journeys for thousands of commuters.

“Our regular events are always popular and we design them to focus on different themes so delegates receive insights into developing their businesses by challenging the status quo to do things differently – a key driver for the Health Innovation Campus.”

The Health Innovation Campus takes a multi-disciplinary and multi-sector approach to understanding and addressing the wider determinants of health, with a mission to improve the health of the region.

Following the keynote speech, a panel discussion will take place featuring a range of experts in health and fitness, including:

• Matthew Anderson, Director of Sport and Communications, The Corporate Games
• Dr Alison Moore, Transformation Programme Manager for Healthier Pennine Lancashire
• Dr Jenny Meggs, Lecturer in Sports Psychology, Lancaster University
• Will Butler-Adams OBE, CEO of Brompton Bicycle

Following the panel discussion, there will be the opportunity to network and find out more about ERDF-funded business support available to Lancashire organisations interested in the health sector.

Delegates will also hear more about the upcoming Health Innovation Leadership Programme and how it can help their organisation develop a culture where innovation and growth can thrive.
